How does one become a certified welding Inspector for such work as pipeline? Can anyone recommend a great school?
Reply:What type of piping? You'll want to certify under ASME code for inspecting pressure vessels and pressure pipes (such as used in power plants and such). You'll want to certify under API code for inspecting things like cross country pipelines, petroleum lines, and piping in oil-fields and oil platforms.Schools will depend a lot on where you are and how far you are willing to travel.Personally, I am attending TSTC Waco. I'll be graduating around mid-August of this year with an Associates Degree in Welding Technology. Part of this course includes classes to prepare to take the CWI exam for our choice of AWS, API, or ASME. I'll be taking the exam to certify under AWS (mainly structural welding as opposed to piping). I would highly recommend this school to anyone, tuition is cheap and the instructors are great. As far as I am concerned, TSTC is one of, if not the best welding schools in the nation, we have companies come from all over the nation trying to recruit students before they even graduate.Visit Tensaiteki.com
Reply:AWS offers courses and the test for CWI. |
