aluminium coating to protect finish

I have been looking for a coating that I can use on channel and trim I use on our barn to keep the aluminum looking new.I have done some searching on the net but overwhelmed by to much info, I remember seeing some post on a ham radio forum about something that was sprayed or painted on after assembly of  his aluminum antenna, he said he lived in the NW near the ocean and the finish looked new after a few years.Just starting out on welding and Tig and want all of my projects to shine..this is for the was outside grooming areas and we live in south Fl heat humidty rain and lots of UV, it would be nice to be non toxic for the stall areas but I can live with out that and find somthing else for the interoir later. We have old  metal in the barn and it a mess, mostly from horse slobber and sneezing, when a 1,100 horse sneezes is a mess.Last edited by W4ZOO; 04-03-2007 at 10:05 AM.ThanksKen

Reply:Put a muzzle on the horse Sorry I couldn't resist There are a bunch of things out there for polishing and maintaining aluminum dump truck bodies that are "supposedly" biodegradeable.  But that doesn't mean they are safe around animals though.  Off hand I can't think of the name but I see somee in a truck magazine iget.  I'll check it out and post what I find.Patching farm equipment with 2 old 6 volt batteries, some jumper cables and a box of 6010 left out in the rain last night
Reply:Thanks for the info, I will see if I can get more info on the ALUMA-HYDE. I was able to find the info on what he was using on his antenna. Alumiprep #33 it's a cleaner that can be aplied and rinsed off and the coating is Alodine 1001 for 1001 is clear but you may have seen the yellow-green used during construction by the aircraft industry. I think this is the type of covering I'm looking for.  I have two people that I need to talk to one is a mechanic for Airborne and the other is involved in making an experimental aircraft I bet the two will have some info, Then I will get the Safety Data sheet and go from there.ThanksKen
