cst 280 or invertec 275

looking to buy a machine ,to practice for pipe certification.Gas pipeline test, 12 inch pipe ,6010 rods and 7010 rods up to 3/16 .has to be a electric machine for noise reasons.etc.I know i can buy a cheaper machine like the idealar 250 lincoln, or dialarc ,miller.but the size of these mahine are a little to big, and the 280miller or 275 lincoln is something i can pick up and take  with me to a job,friend of mine ,a pipeliner used the 280 and said he welded stainless12 inch all day no problem.My first priority is stick,but the lincoln does mig also?Thats a plus for me.I heard there is also a invertec 300.305 and 350 pro but that is getting a little exspenise.please any input on any one of these machine.THANKS.
Reply:I have the V350 PRO and what a machine it is.  It has settings for 6010, 7018 , cored wire and bare wire.  It also tigs great.  I do not know about the V250 or v275 because I have not used them.  Yeah, it was a few bucks, but worth every one of em.  The V350 uses 1/2 the power my wirematic 250 does.  Both at 200 amps.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Hi, I have the CST 280 and it is awesome!!! the separate setting for 6010 and 7018 soft and stiff is great. My personal choice. My Local Union 597 PIPEFITTERS use the CST 280 exclusively.I think they have 28  0f them at the training school. Hope this may help.
Reply:thank you for the reply ,dealer here said go with invertec 275 cause if it breaks cst 280 ,try and get it fixed,and i feel thats is bull sh--.I always like lincoln for there big diesel machine .but in a comparsion test between the two, miller did a little better.I dont think its a big difference,but the 280 is also a little cheaper.To me as long as it handles the 6010 and 7010 rods no problem i dont care.any one else here? and im not looking to bash lincoln or miller ,just looking for the best machine for my purpose .
