Need to patch small pits in aluminum plates without re welding. Is their a liquid or powder out there to patch these holes. It has to look same as aluminum for cosmetic reasons
Reply:Only thing I can recommend is Lab Metal or JB weld. I take it this will be done purely for cosmetic reason, not structural?Patriot Performance AutoLincoln Power Mig 255CLincoln AC-225 StickVictor Journeyman O/AQuincy QT-5 Compressor

Reply:How thick of a metal are you working with. at school if its atleast 1/8 thick we drill the hole a little bit bigger fill if with a filler metal(With out welding it). And just put a little jb weld of the side of the rod. It works better on thicker meterial. But I've done this and polished it out to look almost perfict.
Reply:Dee,Check out a product called Alumaloy. You can find information on it at www.aluminumrepair.com.
Reply:How about devcon or metal set. If you check the industrial supply catalogs or web sites you'll find many aluminum filled epoxy puttys. An exact color match match might be a tougher find.
Reply:Lead will work and the color would be close.it's easy to work with I don't know how much contact with pepole it would have but if it's only cosmetic,I'd try lead body filler or a lead tin solder mix.
Reply:If this is only a cosmetic repair you will find Devcon make a product in a tube called Liquid Aluminum. You can find it in many auto parts houses as well as the hardware stores such as Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal Mart,etc.etc.I think the color is pretty close to unpolished aluminum. Hope it helps
Reply:have you tried epoxy and aluminuim filings? it may take a few tries to get the proportions of epoxy to filings right.
