This might be a dumb question (I have never used one, but how well would a plasma cutter do on expanded metal. I have to use a 4" grinder with cut off wheel now I want the Miller 375 or the Miller 375 extreme. Are there any differnces between these to models other than one is just more portable than the other. thanks
Reply:Yes, you can cut expanded metal with a plasma. The 375 Extreme is also dual voltage - 110/220, so you can use it either way. Along the same lines, the 375 Extreme, as you mentioned, is more portable and weighs about 30 pounds less. I love my plasma very much and I'm not sure how I lived without it. Reply:I have cut sheets and sheets of it. Works great. I used a guide so the lines were straight.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:My plasma has a switch for cutting expanded but it's a old hobart (They don't make it any more) You can do it but I found it easer with the torch
Reply:I have a motorised plasma cutting table, and it cuts expanded just fine.I have also used skil saws with abrasive blades- kinda messy, but it gets the job done, fast.
Reply:David R, can you tell me exactly how you use the guide with the plasma for making strait cuts. I want to add on to a bbq smoker and put it on a trailer when I get the 375 and I want it to look somewhat okay, thanks for all the post.
Reply:Just take a piece of angle and clamp it to the expanded metal... use the vertical leg as the guide_________________Chris
