Deciding on a welder to buy

Hello, Is anyone familiar with Lincoln arc welders ?  I have a Daytona Mig welder, but would like to also have an arc welder so I can weld heavier material.  I have used a Lincoln AC-225 lots of times before, but there are 2 more welders that Lincoln makes that are somewhat similar.  They are the AC/DC-225/125 and the AC-225C.  I have never used either of these.  The AC-225C, by specs, seems to do what the AC-225 does, but just in a physical different shape...is this so? Does it do anything different from the AC-225?  The AC/DC unit costs a good bit more and I'm not sure if I need having the DC part....remember , I have a MIG unit for lighter weight metal.  Would it really be worth the extra bucks?  I need some good advice from an experienced welder by trade...I'm a good welder, but have not worked in the trades. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks.........Beadhead
Reply:If you can at all afford it, GET THE DC MODEL. You will never regret it.  Much smoother welding and better electrode selection.  You'll never weld on AC again unless you have an arc blow problem.
Reply:I agree!  Although the straight AC-225 is not a bad choice either.  I would tend to go with it instead of the AC-225C as the C model is the compact and has lower duty cycles in its amperage range.  This means less continuous welding at its amp settings when compared to its bigger brother the AC-225 full size unit.  Either unit the AC or AC/DC unit will serve you well for years to come.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
