Does anybody know of someone that has the old glass Weld Cool lenses? I was told that nobody makes the glass ones anymore. I bought some of the polycarbonate ones but they have more of a green tint than a blue. My instructor has a glass one and you can see out of it clear as day. If anyone knows where i can get my hands on some i would greatly appreciate it.
Reply:Would these be the same as cobalt blue lenses? The people that O/A weld aluminum tend to prefer them. I think that they're still around but pricey.
Reply:Is it the glass you want or the blue? I use Omni-View lenses . They are gold covered and plastic but your view of the weld is blue. You can see more detail with the blue lens and they are lighter. Only drawback is they scratch. Do not get the Radnor gold covered lens because they are junk. The look through them is a dirty brown and you do not get a good look at the weld.
Reply:I used to use the gold lenses but I have gone back to the glass. This is because when I was cleaning the gold side the cleaning agent was removing the gold coating. I find that as long as the cover plate and the filter are clean there isn't any problem with seeing._________________Chris
