I have acquired another welder. It is a 110 model Harbor Freight flux core welder. The tips are stated as .030 size tips @ .9mm. Ok. I contacted technical support and found out that you can use Miller or Hobart tips in this Harbor Freight rig. Problem is: The Miller and Hobart tips say .035 is .9mm. I looked on the Harbor Freight tips (2) they sent with it and it saids .9mm only. I has no .030 or .035 type sizes recorded on it. Its the website that had these designations with the .9mm. So , do I buy .030 tips designated as .8mm? Or .035 tips designated as .9mm tips? Thanks
Reply:What size wire do you intend to run?
Reply:My guess is that you need .035"/0.9mm tips. Did it come with wire? What size? Are there any markings on the drive roll? .035" FC wire is by far the more popular..023" = 0.6mm.030" = 0.8mm.035" = 0.9mmThis is the common conversion for welding tips, ignoring conservation of significant figures.I don't know about the HF welders, but Lincoln tips also work just fine in Miller/Hobart machines. The threads are a different pitch, but they are short enough and the tolerances are great enough where they've always worked for me. I hear the Miller tips won't work in Lincolns, though.Last edited by MAC702; 05-28-2007 at 08:11 PM.
Reply:Whiteymin, if you look at the spec. on the back of the first page of the manual, under wire size. .030 for flux core. or .023 - .035 for steel or stainless steel, or .030 - .035 for aluminum. Is this what you are asking?
