Help filling butane soldering iron

hey all.. i just received Philips ECG J-500KT Soldering iron on ebay and the first thing i did was go down to the local hardware store and pick up some butane (BernzOmatic). I got home and attempted to fill up the torch, however when i pulled out the butane tank after i filled it a little bit the torch would begin to leak and after about 10 secs empty itself. am i doing something wrong or is this just a broken valve on the torch?? any help would be greatly appreciated. Tanks!
Reply:Either the valve didn't seat straight or it's bad. Try giving a few more shots of butane and see if it seats. It used to be that the butane would come with different nozzles to get a better fit on differnt brands of lights or irons. Now days you're kinda stuck with one tip that doesn't fit anything perfectly.

Reply:I hope I did not turn you off to soldering! I did a recent repair to an older shop charger. It seems they always melt wires at the transformer from us starting motor homes with dead batteries!The tool of choice:-Weller 120 watt iron. The victim:-200 amp shop charger with new pigtail soldered onto transformer.The repaired connection:- 120 watts burns solder real good!Just a butt connector to close the circuit, and done!City of L.A.
