I live in southeastern ohio and was getting ready to take a welding class at a vocational school. I then came across the school at Lincoln. It is about 4 hours away and I would have to stay in a hotel until finished. Seems like an awesome opportunity to me. My question is if it were you which would you do? I'm guessing you could go anywhere and get a job with a diploma from Lincoln and probably make more money. There is a nuclear power plant close to where I live. I was thinking I would have an awesome chance of getting on there if I had those crudentials and would probably learn more there. The vocational school is like $1800 and Lincoln is like $4100 before certification's. One last ? is how much can you expect to make as a certified welder. Thx.
Reply:Check this out... www.welding.orgWages end up wildly varying depending on particular job, location, difficulty, etc...too many variables to answer that question.
Reply:The credentials from a recognized welding school will give you a better chance of getting an interview. The rest is up to you. You also have to interview well to get to take the welding test for employment! Have you checked out The American Welding Society for school info? Good luck with everything!!------------john
Reply:AWS has some kind of "Universally Accepted" type of welding school accredation they are working on. Read about it awhile ago. Check it out, you may want to try one of the accedited schools.http://www.aws.org/w/a/education/sense/?id=FBc4Jhed |
