So, its hot and humid out now (for a while acually) so how do you keep cool. Most of the day im doing TIG so I usually come in a t-shirt and jeans. I have a fan blowing on my legs when im at my table and we can leave the shop doors open if its not to windy to get a nice cross breeze.Any one else have some good tips and tricks?Have we all gone mad?
Reply:im on a mig all day. if its hot im in pants and a t-shirt, with a fan and a big roller door behind my workbench. gets a nice cool breeze coming through it so it does the job
Reply:Well my wife doesn't like it but I like to move my projects into the living room were it is nice and cool. Attached Images
Reply:I have one of those do-rags that motorcycle riders like to wear and when it is hot (because the air-conditioning breaks down a lot) I soak it in nice cool water a couple times a day then put it on....it helps quite a bit
Reply:Get yourself a blower like the ones that they use for carpet drying..I don't do it now but in the past useageput the blower on the floor..Get a "Lab Coat"..You know what they are..Let the blower basically "blow up your skirt". Works wonders and you don't blow your shielding gas away either.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:The do-rags work wonders, especially if you get one of the nicer ones that has a sweatband sewn in... Holds more cold water!Shop temp here today was 102 degrees...
Reply:I was working outside in the direct sun on concrete. Feet were cooking. Stick the blow nozzle down your boot and give it a good blast of air. Very refreashing.
Reply:I used to use a coil of airline wiretied on a sheet of metal with holes drilled in it plugged in to shop air supply, the powers that be didn't much care for it,,,but what can they say?a/c was never gonna happen.

Reply:737mechanic,I Love it! That is a welding picture you don't see much!I have a 5000BTU A/C unit that I made a stand for (like a fan) If I am in one spot for a while I just wheel it over and let it rip full blast! The shop is open so the extra heat from the A/C is not a problem and that cool dry air is nice...Best $75.00 bucks I spent!
Reply:Well I am usually working anywhere from a crop field to the woods. Welding with a stick mainly. sometimes I might put the shop fan on the back of the service truck, but I usually just drink ALOT of water, and tough it out..........I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
