I need some help,I'm trying to find the name, manufacturer or any info on a oxy/acet. shape cutting set-up.  All I know about it is it had an "x" / "y" gantry set up that had a carriage that the cutting torch was attached to.  It had a photoelectric eye that would follow any line, any shape drawn with a black marker on white paper (as long as any corner wasn't too sharp other wise it would loose the line) A guy I worked for years back had one and I figure thats a good, cheaper place to start for shape cutting.  I know a CNC plasma will out perform it a million times over but it's a $$$$ thing right now.  I'm finally to the point where I can get my own shop set up and really start doing stuff on my own,  Of course I'll be back asking questions of you who have probably forgotten more than I know.  Any way any help on finding info on one of these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Reply:Company I used to work for got a setup like you are referring to. It had a 20' track  setup that a carriage ran back and forth on. Between the tracks was a moveable table that you put your line (trace) drawing on for the "eye", and the other side had a 4 torch head arrangement to cut the shape. It also had a built in rectangular shape programmable device to cut square/rectangle plates. It was made by Linde, I believe, but I am referring to a machine purchased maybe 1975-76-77 time frame. The memory isn't always as good as we wish for, lol.I could inquire with my old employer, as I am still in contact with him.
Reply:I don't recall this one being that large or having the set-up for the multiple torches, but it very well could be that old.  Most of his stuff was except his trucks and the line bore set up.  If you could check with your old employer that would give me a start on my search. Thanks
Reply:Profile cutter with a photo-electric cell, check with your local welding/gas supplier there are many different brands on the market. We have 2 at work but the photo-electric can be a pain at times, I prefer the results of the template one we have. However we are going to get a cnc but for repeat jobs I have a liking for the template follower.
