I am new to welding.  Trying to figure it out on my own, so feel free to correct me if what I ask or say makes no sense.  Specifically what I want to know is can you weld 1018 grade to A513 (alloy 1020-1026) Steel?  Any info you could give would help.  Thanks.
Reply:yes you can weld those together.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:1018 is a low carbon plain steel (no major alloy elements) with about 0.18% carbon (+/- about 0.03% IIRC)A513 is a low carbon plain steel with about 0.23%carbonThese weld together quite well with most any low carbon filler (E7018, E6013, E6010, etc, or 70s-X MIG or TIG, or equivalent for any other process). If either of these had a carbon content higher than about 0.30 or 0.35, you would need to start worrying about welding procedure, but below 0.30, other than is real thick material, there are few things to go wrong and no special concerns.
