To use a cutoff wheel on a die grinder I can't seem to find what I need to use it. The arbor/mandrel?
Reply:I wouldn't use a cutoff wheel with out some kind of a guard. David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The guard get's in the way alot of times and restricts your cutting. I found some on ebay. Thx.
Reply:If you can't cut it with the gaurd, find another means to cut it. Murphy will catch up with you sooner or later. If not, I hope you have good health insurance.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:The guard went back on my DeWalt 4" after the first wheel exploded and I got to scrub the bits out of my mangled finger before supergluing it back shut... and if youre talking about a pneumatic die grinder thats even worse, pieces will hit you in the face...The hell with using cutoff wheels without a guard, life is too short to ruin your fingers or eyeballs to save a minute or a little aggravation...(Supergluing your wounds is NOT recommended by those pesky doctors so don't try that at home!)
Reply:Most places I worked removed the gaurds on grinders whereas I like them esp. the ones you can rotate...got tired of cutting my fingers in them plus they are great for setting plunge depth when using cut-off discs.Miller Dynasty 700Miller 350P with Aluma-pro push-pullMiller 280 Dynasty with expansion card Dynasty 200 DXMigMax 215 Enuff power and hand tools to create one of anything..... but mass produce nothing!!!
Reply:Anyone who uses a die grinder/cut off wheel, without a guard, must have never seen a disk explode. Not pretty. Kinda like being next to a Chicom grenade (never know where the "big" pieces are headed). Not good.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:Absolutely, no reason for using cutoff wheels without guards. Find another tool, if you can't the cutoff wheel tool won't reach. 10,000rpm roulette wheel. Not just you to be injured and not just your face. "öops is too late"... be safe.
Reply:the guard on mine saved me a trip to the hospital this weekend.
