generator to run a mig?!?

Hey all im hoping on some advice!! I have just managed to get a garage to start my project build of a Mini race car... but my garage has no power and untill i can move to a garage with power i still want to get on with my welding so the question is:Whats the best generator i can get hold of (ie fleabay) to run a mig 80 gas welder? i have tried going through the manual to see if i can find any input power values but with no luck, so fingers crossed for a reply
Reply:Look through the last few months of posts here for posts about welding and generators.Or search here for posts on welding/welder and generator.Basic answer is you need a generator with enough power at the right voltage and outlet to power the generator.  No, that's not a trick answer.  You need the generator to be able to send enough current at the correct voltage to the correct outlet to plug the machine into.

Reply:I get 6,000 watt generator.  13a @ 230 volts *2 = 2990 Watts.  Lincoln electric sez double the input current because of spikes and starting the arc.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
