Changing wire on Mig machine.

Im trying to learn how to change wire on a mig machine after the roll has run out. I am using a Lincoln LN-7 GMA.Cut wire, remove emty spool, put new spool of wire in position, hold wire while & push it through cone shaped thing, then through rollers & out through another cone shaped thing etc and through handpiece etc. Then clamp rollers together for traction.Im just wondering this is right?
Reply:Yes that just about covers it. Sounds like you mean to push it all the way through the gun/torch? Just release the tension and start it into the liner, re-clamp the rollers and use the wire inch switch if so equipped or just pull the trigger until it comes out of the contact tip.
Reply:And it is usually a good idea to remove the tip first. Sometimes the wire wont feed through the small tip hole and it will bunch up at the driven end. You may need to hold the gun and lead pretty straight so there is no binding. Also, make sure you get the last few feet of wire out of the gun lead first. This is waste wire and you should not try to push it out with the new wire.
