Anyone ever use this stuff?http://cgi.ebay.com/New-JW-Harris-20...QQcmdZViewItem I have some sheetmetal to work on and was curious how it worked and settings for 18-24ga.  I have used .023 wire before, looking at possible alternatives that may be easier to use.. Thanks
Reply:It makes no since, What AWS # do you want.  The 20 Gauge wire of JW Harris (20 ga) is .036, our normal size is .o35 and a certwin type of wire (E71T-1, E70-TG, or something.   JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:Cracked,I am on my third 2# spool and I like it.  I think it is a "little" better to handle than standard wire BUT I am only a hobbyist practiced on automotive sheetmetal.  My advice is to buy a spool and run it yourself, on your equipment, in your type of welding. As to it not burning thru on sheetmetal that is a little hype - any wire can burn through under the right conditions.   For me Twenty-Gauge is more forgiving.BTW: "Twenty-Gauge" is not 0.036" diameter, it is a standard 0.030" diameter wire that uses normal feed parts.Paul
Reply:Read the site.  20 Ga. is .036    JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :

Reply:I was given a roll by my LWS to try. In my mind its all hype and overpriced but for a beginner it may be fine. I can't see spending 6 times what i can buy solid wire for and you still need the gas. I went to the boneyard and got a truck door to try it on. It welded fine, but any better than my .023 S6, not really. It would still burn thru if you wanted it to. So i guess its what you want and need to use but i wouldn't spend the extra on it.
