Hi, I'm wondering what is the relation beetween the pressure in a tank (acetylen or oxygen) and the time remaining of use. For exemple, my acetylen bottle is 200 psi when full and was 50 psi this morning. I'm pretty sure my tank was not 1/4 full.Thanksfrancois in quebec
Reply:On the cylinder it has a stamp - TW165 or some # meaning weight.  weigh the cylinder and subtract the weight on the cylinder and multipy by 14.7, thats how many cuft that is left in the cylinder (ACETYLENE).  Oxygen can be told by the contense gauge.  2200#'s full, 1100#'s 1/2 full.  John G.SMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:If it is cold where you store your cylinder the pressure can drop a lot, mostly true for Liquid stored gas not sure about dissolved gas. Make sure you don't have a leak.
Reply:so for the oxygen we have a direct relation beetween the pressure and what is left. ThanksI don't think I have a leak since my acetylen was 200 psi when full, maybe 2 years ago. I was just wondering if with 50 psi I still had 1/4 full thank, or less.francois in quebec, where it is getting pretty cold
Reply:The pressure doesn't have anything to do with the amount you have in an acetylene cylinder, its weight.  John Gault saysSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
