If a person was shopping for a fluxecore only welder what would everyone recommend for wire sizes.I see alot of them vary, most have .030 and .035. Some will offer .023 and .040 with the other two also.Just curios if you need that many choices.pro-level dumpster diver                                     Hobart 125EZ
Reply:With flux core there isn't a .023.. Point 023 comes in solid wire only, or some wording similar to that. And I don't think you're gonna find a 120 volt input that does .045 flux core, so you're down to two, .030 and .035.. With a 120v input/light output rig you won't get the full benefit of .035..
Reply:It looks like .030 would be the most used then.I looked and the one with .023and .040 was a craftsman but they didn't say it was able to use gas.It would have to be I guess to use those two.I found .023 in solid wire but not .040 just .045 so I wonder if there is a .040. Maybe a misprint?pro-level dumpster diver                                     Hobart 125EZ
Reply:I sure don't know of an .040 anyway, not in solid or flux core. Typo maybe??
Reply:Look at the 125EZ from Hobart. Sears has it too. You'll never be able to convert to gas but the claim is it's a sweet rig. Major brand too.
Reply:Thanks Sandy I'll do that, we have TSC stores around here and they usually have good prices on Hobart equipment too.pro-level dumpster diver                                     Hobart 125EZ
Reply:If Hobart is what you want get it from them, for the warrenty and service, you will be better off and not much more $'s.   JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:stevinator, ive got a lincoln 135 and it burns .35 pretty well. also can use gas
Reply:With a 120V unit, I always kept .030 in it for FCAW.  That wire will make the thin stuff much easier, and will also easily do the thickest stuff that the machine is capable of.I've used 120V Lincolns, Craftsman, Hobarts, and Millers.  All were excellent units.Best bang for the buck will be the Hobarts.
Reply:Try to get a machine with 140ams of output or more. This will allow you to use .030 or .035. You need atleast that much power to run it properly. It would be nice to get a unit that is capable of using gas for down the road. And I also agree Hobart is the way to go. You cand get them from TSC and even Harbor Freight at great prices.  Good luck Steel Thunder Welding LLC. Reply:Thanks, not sure how soon it will happen but I kind of liked the hobarts and you guys all pretty much do too so that's good enough for me.pro-level dumpster diver                                     Hobart 125EZ
