I have been looking for an American equivalent to a european spec'ed rod with little luck. The steel being welded is S355J2G3 steel. The filler metal specs are as follows.1. Flux cored welding wire: T42 v4 B M 3H52. Mig wire: G4sil/EN4403: Rod: E 38 2 B 12 H10I have to do the job in the field so a rod will have to be used. I found one thing that says the rod is equivalent to 7016. Any ideas? We use E7018 daily but I was told by the company that it does not meet the requirements.Golf Supplies | Golf Carts | Yamaha golf cars

Reply:google this...e 38 2 b 12 h10          its under kjellberg finsterwalde on the first page. i would post a link but i dont know how. it is also mentioned in esab.
Reply:Muppethunter,Yes, AWS A5.1 Table A1 lists E7016 as equivalent to ISO 2560 E38xB12.  The AWS filler metal comparison charts list 24 companies that sell E7016, including seven American companies.  Look for the H8 suffix in order to meet ISO H10.  I'd be interested to hear why E7016 meets the requirement but E7018 doesn't; the specified minimum weld metal properties of E7016 and E7018 are the same.Similarly, AWS A5.20 Table A1 lists E71T-5M as equivalent to ISO 17632-A T42 X B M.  Look for the H4 suffix.AWS A5.18 doesn't have a comparison table, but it looks like the American equivalent is A5.18 ER70S-6.
