I have a Lincoln Pro Mig 180 and work for an airline so I can get lots of scrap aluminum, I was wondering if the Lincoln 100SG spoolgun "$160 bucks" is worth the money or should I just spend the $70 and get the the kit for the mig gun. Has anyone ever used this spoolgun and if so did it work ok.Link to spoolgun -------> http://cgi.ebay.com/LINCOLN-MAGNUM-1...QQcmdZViewItemLast edited by 737mechanic; 08-02-2007 at 09:45 PM.
Reply:I like mine real well and I am getting used to welding with it. It appears that it will produce great wels if I do my part.
Reply:Remember, a spool gun or wire feeder ony pushes wire, the welding machine does the welding and if it pushes wire its OK. John G.SMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:Once set up the spool gun will be easier to switch Al and steel welding than the kit. Spool gun also eliminates feed problems.Probably worth the extra money to get the spool gun.
Reply:Buy it if you do Aluminum regularly. As stated, it will make life easier when switching materials.I also think it welds nicer than a push setup since you don't get the bind and bounce of pushing the wire.
