Does anyone have plans for a wheel chair platform to go into Hitch on rear of car, I have Disabled Granddaughter and need to fabricate a carrier for her electric wheel chair, Any help appreciated.
Reply:You might start with a cargo carrier and modify it to suit your needs. That might be cheaper than buying the steel and doing all the cutting & welding on the basic frame.
Reply:I know for a fact that they are sold complete, but we don't carry them in the store. It should be easy to find a source, unless you would rather make one custom.http://www.ameriglide.com/Wheelchair...iers|831863725http://www.discountramps.com/wheelch...FQpFgQodxGcGGwhttp://www.wheelchaircarrier.com/and this...http://www.wheelchaircarrier.com/wccfaqall.htmlDannyArrow Trailer,Ontario, Ca.Last edited by tanglediver; 12-17-2007 at 09:51 PM.City of L.A. Reply:Agree with A-Dano. I would start with a Taiwan cargo carrier (Harbor Freight) and modify it with a ramp to drive it up on. Maybe add another set of support bars or tie-down cables to reduce sway.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
Reply:I have added side supports to a few of those cargo carriers. The tube doesn't fit tight enough in the receiver. If you are adventurous, look at a few and build your own from scratch.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. |
