Please bare with me and show patience. I know Im asking alot of questions and glad you guys are helping me. I bought a Clarke Mig 95 welder this past week new. I noticed the ground clamp looked like a thin, flimsey toy. Something somone sqeezes in their hand as an exercise. I wanted to replace that so I bout a better ground clamp today. It said "ground clamp 300 amp"So is this clamp to big for this 100amp ? Will it hurt or burn anything of? Or am I safe? Thanks for your help.Brian
Reply:It won't hurt a thing but neither is it needed.
Reply:It will be with you when you have to get rid of the machine.   JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:I'll add that if that ground clamp has hex socket lug that screws down to clamp the cable your cable maybe too small for the screw to clamp down tightly. The screw lug on a 300 amp clamp typically is going to be sized for a 1/0 to 4/0 cable.
Reply:If what tresi said is true and the cable is too small to clamp tightly enough you can double the cable or add some short pieces till it clamps down hard.  I soldered mine.
Reply:It will be great.  Overkill, yes but....I bolt the end of my ground cable to a pair of 4" C clamp vice grips.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
