What are the requirements to take a welding test? I would like to get certifed.Can I get certifed in say MIG only? Then come back and take a TIG test?Please let me know.
Reply:certified in what? what do you plan on welding? where do you plan on welding? it all depends on your situation... there are different certs and requirements for those certs dependant upon a lot of things... location, position, and material to name a few. there are also different "levels" of certs from my understanding... we had a couple guys in the shop that were already aluminum, flat, MIG certified, but they still had to get another one so they could do a project to be installed in Florida... the platform had to be hurricane-rated.Later,Andy

Reply:Get a copy of D1.1 AWS manual.  It should answer all your questions, but its only for structural welding.  There are more agencies that control certifications other than AWS.    JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :

Reply:call the continuing ed center at the local tech school. here they have like 50 different test. all the way to 6g pipe. mig stick and tig are all seperate tests. each test is bend tested and xrayed. also each test is like 400bucks because of the xray. there are also DOT test which are stick only."Retreat hell, were just fighting in the other direction"Miller Trailblazer 302, Extreme 12 VS, Dimension 400, Spectrum 375, HF 251D-1, Milermatic 251 w/ spoolgun  Hypertherm 1000Lincoln sp 1702000 F-450 to haul it
