With one of the welders I have recently bought, a spool of flux core welding wire was already installed. I notice the only thing on it was that it was .030 and the words " hilo tubular" Can somoene tell me what you know about this wire? Does it have a specific purpose or is it an all around wire? It makes very nice beads. Im used to only the Lincoln 211 innershield, but this does good to depending on its characteristics and purpose. Thanks fellas.WhiteyWhitey____________________________Lincoln Pro Mig 180Clarke Mig 125Clarke Mig 95Hobart Stickmate 205*looking for a chop saw*

Reply:It's just non-aws foreign wire is all. Could be better , as good as, or worse than any other brand. With out the aws spec on it here is just no way to tell whether it's a 71T-G, GS or 11 or any of the flux cored wires. "Hilo" in this context means thread, (wire to you me), so generic 'tubular wire' is what you've got.
Reply:Even the spanish speaking web site discussions cannot figure it out.ANSI/AWS numbers are what matters or some kind of cross reference number.Other wise how can you use it??You have to know what you are using.I have had to throw away many TIG welding filler wires away because they were thrown into a pile by lazy or unorganized, untrained welders who used the numbered end of the wire. It ruined any chance of identifying it later. |
