MIG at 20amps?

I've been looking at some of the 110volt Lincoln Electric mig/flux core welders.  The descriptions make it sound like you can plug it into any of your household 110volt outlets.  Well, upon reading the manuals online, I see that it really requires a 20amp outlet.  For most around here, that would limit you to welding in your kitchen as the homes are built with 15amp throughout (except kitchen).I have a dedicataed 20amp 110volt in my garage.  But liked the idea of being able to plug into any 110volt outlet.  So here's the question.  Can you still plug one of these welders into a 15amp outlet?  I'm guessing if you crank it up then you'll blow the fuse.  But if your welding some of the smaller stuff, you'd be okay on the 15amp outlet.  Your thoughts?

Reply:I have a Weldpak HD and it runs fine on a 15 amp circuit. My dad has the 120 I think, been awhile since I have seen it. It was the first 115 volt one Lincoln came out with. It doesn't like 15 amp circuits at all.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Just don't run it on a small extention cord & you be fine on small jobs on 120v. If you have to use an extention cord make sure it is a heavy guage one.
