Hello everyone, I have an ArcOne Viper Industrial Extreme helmet. This is the one with the curved front. Almost from day one I have had problems getting the front cover off and on and having smoke collect on the front of the glass. Within weeks of purchase, I needed replacement lenses and after getting ArcOne brand lenses, I found they were just a hair thicker then before causing the lens not to bend as easily. This allowed even more smoke to enter the cover and dirty the glass. I contacted ArcOne while at my LWS and was told by a very rude customer service rep (more on her later) that there was no way the lenses were thicker! Despite the store manager telling her they appeared stiffer, she was adamant.Guess what! A few months later, the front glass cracked from a hot spark that came in through the side of the curved lense! Must have been just the right angle and the moons were aligned because the "impossible" happened!Helmet was then sent back for warranty and the "rude" customer service rep above, shows up again. This time telling me all of the engineers have agreed that I must have used the helmet WITHOUT the protective lens!I couldn't believe this! Why the hell would I intentionally use a $350 helmet with out the lens! Long story short, they want me to pay $170 for a replacement helmet. (A total of $520 combined for a poorly designed POS!)Am I the only one with this problem? Say it isn't so!Thanks!
Reply:Indeed there are some design hurdles. On mine the solar cell cracked despite taking care of it and using the proper cover lense. They wouldn't honor the warranty. More later...John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Now I am glad I didn't get the arc one helmet. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:huntsman is the only helmet i have ever owned. i don't know if i could use a 350 dollar helmet. i might drop it. |
