Can someone tell me how you can get 140 amps from the hobart handler 140 when you are only pluged into a 120 outlet. thanks--mccoy
Reply:HA! YA CAN'T. Ok you can get 140 amps, but not at welding voltage.I have used a couple of them, they are a good welder, but like any other 110 mig, the most I think you are going to get are about 100 amps at welding voltage. I put an ampmeter on one. Find the post "welding 3/8" with a 110V Mig.David.Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Regardless if it puts out 140 amps or not, its the best 110 unit I have ever used. They must sprinkle some sort of magic dust on it, because last week welded 1/8" steel with it, full bore for over an hour straight and it didnt skip a beat.Last edited by Qucifer; 03-08-2008 at 10:08 PM.Reason: spellingMiller Syncrowave 200Hobart Handler 140Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38E-Z Tube BenderPlasma Cam DHC2
Reply:Does anyone feel as though the hobart 140 will weld 3/16" or 1/4 "mild steel without any problems or do you feel as though the hobart 187 would be the way to go. thanks for your help
Reply:I rarely go above 1/8" with mine, but I have done 3/16" a time or two with it. I would go up to the 220v unit if you plan on doing 3/16" or 1/4" regularly.Miller Syncrowave 200Hobart Handler 140Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38E-Z Tube BenderPlasma Cam DHC2
