LN-25 identifying year of manufacture?

Can anyone tell me how to figure out manufacture date or year or K 449 by serial number.    Do any certain digits stand for yr. or month it was made?Also can anyone tell me if there is any era or updated K 449s to stay away from.     I want to buy one.     I'm contemplating on buying a new one.       Any advice?

Reply:The LN-25 is the Cadillac of wire feeders. Mine is an '88 and runs like a new one. I think by going to Lincolns site and going to the operators manuals and entering your k code you can find out. The only difference I have seen from the '88 and the '08 by looking at them is the case color. It still uses the same wire drive.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
