about to place order--please give best advice. which would be the best choice for light duty welding mostly mild steel. HOBART 187 OR LINCOLN 180TThanks again & hopefully this will be the deciding factor. thanks
Reply:hobart is millers cheaper line. i work on both but prefer lincolns machine because of the drive system quality.

Reply:Between the two list, I 'd go with the HH 187. The 187 offers more voltage taps selections. Plus the HH 187 produces more top end power for solid wire applications. The 187 also has a better spool hub design.I own a HH 187 and PM 180C. Both have very good arc characteristics with solid wire and C-25 shielding gas , so I doubt you'll be disappointed with either of the units you've listed.
Reply:I started learning to weld using a Hobart that i have at work. When i finally decided to get my own i went out and bought a Lincoln. The two welders were pretty similar but i definately prefer the lincoln. It seems easier for me to use when compared with the hobart. Using the hobart it took me a lot longer to dial in the correct settings. I say go with the Lincoln
Reply:I just like red, heheh. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
