Is this a good deal on a plasma cutter?

I have a friend that is wanting to sell a Thermal Dynamics Econopack 50 to me for $300.00. It looks to be in great shape however I haven't seen it in action and have never used one. Also can I just hook it to my air compressor or maybe use my MIG mix tank for it also?

Reply:After replacing the electrode and tip it cuts like a champ. $300 for machine, $46 for supplies and $75 for supplies to run another 220v circuit in the shop. I'm happy but not too sure about the wife.
