Guys; Was at a clearing auction last weekend and could not resist buying an old stick welder. Brand name Murex. Relatively small unit, but very heavy. Anyone know about them?
Reply:err... where is the picture?Unit in my fab shop dept:my good hand and team that trust me...A lone welder make art... a village full of welder make Miracles...
Reply:I've never seen a Murex welder, but I have used Murex rods for years. They have always been a great rod in my opinion. I to would like to see a picture.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:+1 for Murex making good stick electrodes. Never saw that brand name on a welding machine.
Reply:Murex is a subsidiary of ESAB, common brand name in the UK for welding plant and well respected though less popular these days because Kempii, Fronius and EWM produce such good kit. Don't know about all models but the big old Murex rectifiers were ESAB heliarcs in disguise
Reply:er, picture?? Wait until after the weekend when I shall do a tutorial on how to insert a photo in a post
Reply:Murex was formed from BOC (British Oxygen Company) when it used to sell arc equipment under the name BOC Murex. Virtually every workshop or lab has BOC gas in it. Murex separated from BOC around a decade ago I think.BOC still sell, solely, Murex welding equipment in their catalogs and stores at the cylinder yards.Last edited by johnintheuk; 04-11-2008 at 05:00 AM. |
