hey guys does anyone have any comments good or bad on the miller digital elite helmet? thanks in advance
Reply:The digital elite beats the speedglas 9002x I'm told. Miller has the best head gear and it is a well balanced hood. Speedglas does have breathing vents that are nice. The X-mode is the new hot ticket. Both must be turned on thoughJamesDrag Racing is for Fast Cars. Reply:First post so I figure I may as well jump in.Just got a Miller Elite Digital this morning, $349 so thankfully I didn't have to spring for it.Didn't use it much, a bit of tacking, tig and a bit of wirefeed so...It's light, very adjustable up, down in out. Especially like the delay feature so if you're filling a hole or building up an edge which requires a constant stopping and starting you can adjust it so the lens stays dark for a longer period of time.Very large viewing area, so far I can't see anything wrong....yet.One gripe tho not specifically about the Miller but all helmets.....fer pete's sake standardize the clear lens sizes, it's a pia having umpteen different sizes.....Mike
Reply:I have the Miller digital elite.I like the fact that it has an adjustment to get it closer to your face when it is in the down position.Four sensors,TIG low 5 amp response.Auto ON. AUTO off after 15 minutes.Grind mode.Shade control #8 - #13.Comes with 7 additional clear lenses.Magnifying lense clip. (thats how i get such nice welds.).

Reply:They are a great shop hood...they work well at low amps aswell as with hard to reach welds (where you lose view of the arc which would normally cause a shield to flicker). I don't like them for field use. They don't work well on a hard hat and the hood being that new light plastic is flimsy. The only thing that I really don't like about them is that you have to buy special cover lenses for them...they are expensive.Jonesy
Reply:Can someone explain the differences between the Elite and Digital Elite helmets? It seems that both have the 4 settings (Grind, Weld, etc.) and I can't see any huge differences. What's digital in the Digital Elite?
Reply:I am a fan of jackson's NEXGEN EQC hood because it uses a standard big window cover plate and thus that lens fits ANY 4x5 welding hood. I have the HALO X hood with the NEX GEN lens on a MSA skullguard harhat and it works great. I know a lot of guys I work with have had issues with the Miller elite hoods when using it with innershield. The hoods don't seem to like heat very much.'Mike
