I just got a century ac/dc welder I have welded before I cant seem to get any pentration, Im welding in both straight an reverse polarity ive got the welder maxed at 140 and still cant burn through I change one thing on the welder i made the supply cord longer i use 10-3 wire that what was on it when i got it. ive used 3/32, 1/8 rod 6011 6013 and im welding in dc, tryed ac but i didnt have any patients any suggestion would be helpfull guys thank.

Reply:a 140 amps dc is way too much for 1/8 6011 and a little too warm for 6013. start check all of your connections. are you trying to weld on old crusty rust? maybe the range switch weny bad.

Reply:i screwed around with it again this evening same thing happend on ac but the guy i got the welder from had some 1/16 rod so i tryed that and it did burn through the metel and a peice of 1/2 inch black pipe with a desent weld tried to cap it with 3/32 and no go. |
