I am a teacher of welding now!!!!

Unfortunity my friend and co worker got sacked from his day school teaching job at the local votech where I teach Welding to adults at night...It was recomended that I apply for his position...well the word came down and i got the job!! Im siked like you can not believe!! I get to warp young little minds now!!! LOL Just kidding!! Its a great oppertunity and I hope to be able to but young quality individual out into the work force!! Welders are a dieing breed...we all know this...I just hope that I can make a diffrence!! Wish me luck everybody!!Jonesy

Reply:Congratulations!I have ben hoping for a welding instructor job for many years but it hasn't come up yet. They are starting a program for welding at the local HS Vocational Center BUT the state of MS decided that to teach a trade, you must have at least an Associates Degree IN THE FIELD of study you are teaching. Thats only for new teachers after July 1st.I think a teeneage mind even a little interested in welding can go a long way!Have a nice dayhttp://www.weldingdata.com/

Reply:Jonesy don't sweat it.  You should remember though that as a teacher your students should assume that your education is higher then theirs.  How a person presents theirself tells a lot about education, and sometimes intelliegence levels. I know this because I present myself horribly, my spelling is not the best, vocabulary is somewhat lacking and I know that these have held me back at times.  Try to pay attention to what you tell others and especially if it is in writing, most important be sure your students are learning the correct things and in a fun way. It is easier to learn if it is in an inviting atmosphere. Good luck.Tim.Tim Beeker.

Reply:Aint it the truth...I get to keep my gotee...No more welding in acid suits or resperators...its a climate controled shop!!  I shouldn't have to lay on my back to get burned or climb out on a I beam to hang by my toe nails to get burned...but I do have to say that At 37, I don't feel worn out...but I do think that I should be able to get my 20 yrs in for my state pention!!  woohooThe thing that I really do look forward to is the fact that I feel I can produce a quality welder to send out into the work force.  Thats my mail goal!!!Thanks for the luck!!  I'm going to need it...You all will hear lots from me...the good and the bad!!Jonesy
