I have a pc of 3/8 aluminum bar about 3' long & what i would like to know can i cut this up in different sizes to be used for a backing when welding up holes. I was told the aluminum would be as good for this as the copper spoon or what ever its called. Thanks for your help.
Reply:Yes, I use 3/8" aluminum to back holes in sheet metal all the time. Just Hold it tight to the piece, and weld it shut with a mig and the aluminum will not stick to it.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:will this also work with flux core mig welding or stick welding.thanks
Reply:I got a 6" round 1" think round disk of copper to do the same thing. Its very helpful.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
