I recently purchased a maxstar and have been plagued with hard start/no start problems. The (mickey mouse) leeds, stinger, ground clamp and the connector to machine are rediculesly sorry. I have up graded the stinger and ground clamp and had to repair shorts in both leed connectors. Even after doing all this, the problem still exists du to the cheesey machine/leed connectors, they constently loosen up and have to be tweeked every 2nd or 3rd weld and as a result are becoming worse. Has nyone else had this problem and if so how was it corrected. Miller should be ashamed  they put this pitiful set up on there machine.Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180
Reply:As for the lugs that connect the cables to the machine, I had no issies with them. But the electrical connector for the tig torch on that welder was a shame. It knocked the unit from a 10 to an 8. I had issues with it, until I accidentally dropped some super glue in the right spot. What a great mistake; it fixed the problem completely!! Now, if the lugs give you crap, you can do the cheap easy repair for that; add a small amount of tin foil in the socket on the machine. It will add some tension for the lugs, they won't spin freely, and you will get full contact for your arc. I  would suggest a little dialectic grease in there if you do that, keep any electrolosis down. I had to do this on several different welders, it worked very well in a pinch. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:My V155S came wit #4 leads.  Just barely big enough.  I made  a set out of #2, red and black.  They work great.I kept the leads same length as original to keep the portability.   My Fischer Price welder.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Ditto on the exact problem, trying to weld with lead not even plugged in sucks, it seemed like the leads fell out every time we moved the machine more than an inch. Nice machine to use when you have to hump it in on a job though. I'll be introducing the tin foil tommorow at work.

In my rage of aggrevation, I sent Miller a lengthy e-mail expressing my disappointment, waiting on response.                                                          u da man
