hobart 250 won't strike a arc

Hi I have a hobart 250 beta mig model 7189-1. It worked fine the last time i used it, about 8 months ago. Just tried to use it,and it won't strike a arc. The reostat is real stiff. It feeds wire. Anyone have any ideas? I've have had this welder about 12 years never had this problem before. Thanks
