I have found a local deal for a Lincoln 200 pipeliner for under 1,500. I was wondering what I can use this machine for. I have stick welded in shop and for a few days using a small portable, so something of this nature is new to me.I also have a chance to buy a gas powered Lincoln Mig welder with cart for around 700. That I can figure what odd jobs I could pick up.Which would be a better system for someone who has always been a shop welder looking to make money on the side.Thanks.Last edited by partagas; 09-15-2008 at 12:20 AM.Reason: I entered the wrong type of machine.

Reply:If you're hunting a general/all purpose use, for a variety of jobs rig, then there are better options than the Sa200. Now even saying that, I like the SA200 alot, but for a rig that will see "general" use I'd continue looking.
Reply:Not much you can't do with a Sa200 as far as stick goes. It will also take up most all of your pickup bed and use twice the gas of other engine drives. But in the end they are a hell of a welder.
Reply:Best machine ever made. I just sold mine for $2000.00 and feel like I messed up. At $1500.00 I'd say jump on it.

Reply:In it's day the SA 200 was the best portable welder going.and it is still a great machine but frankly techonology has advanced well beyond it. It's heavy. Gas consumption wasn't too bad. I had a Linkwelder 225 with an Onan engine that burned more gas doing the same work than my SA 200 did. I've welded with Hobart, Miller, and P&H portables. The P&H was the only one that came close to having the weld quality of the SA 200. Would I buy an SA 200 today? NO. Like I said technology has passed it by The new machines are much more versatile. Having said that, if I had to build anything from a gate made from magnitized sucker rods to a gas production system or a waterflood system operating at 5000 psi and an SA 200 was all I had to use it wouldn't bother me a bit. I have build enough of them with one to know it will do the job.
Reply:The SA 200 is a good example of how smooth a welder should be.Perfect for structural and pipe welding. Welding gates on site etc.,.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder |
