Can an argon tank be placed horizontal? I'm building a welding table and would like to place the argon tank on its side under the table.thanks
Reply:If it's just an argon tank, yes it can be positioned horizontally as argon is a homogeneous compressed gas. CO2 cylinders and C-25 cylinders cannot be tilted horizontally because CO2 is in liquid form initially (which would freeze your regulator if fed horizontally) and C-25 is stratified with argon and CO2 in separate layers with pickup tubes in the cylinder positioned to facilitate vertical installation.ScottMiller XMT 350 CC/CV w/gas solenoid opt.Miller S-22A wirefeederBernard 400A "Q" gunMiller Spoolmatic 30A / WC-24C-K 200A torch/gas lensWeldcraft WC-18 watercooled torchHypertherm Powermax 30Victor O/A

Reply:I should have added that I've never seen a flowmeter (doesn't mean one doesn't exist) that will function while attached to a tank mounted horizontally.ScottMiller XMT 350 CC/CV w/gas solenoid opt.Miller S-22A wirefeederBernard 400A "Q" gunMiller Spoolmatic 30A / WC-24C-K 200A torch/gas lensWeldcraft WC-18 watercooled torchHypertherm Powermax 30Victor O/A
Reply:Done it for years a t a place i used to work. Can't knock a tank over when it's not standing up!Use a little float type flow meter rather than a dial well in theory both will work fine...Not a problem IMOP
Reply:where i work there isnt any little tanks just one big one with **** load of outlets everywhere its pretty cool

I would be worried about heat, sparks, accidental arc, etc. Personaly I would build a seperate cart & keep the tank away from the table.Just my opinion. |
