Where to get something galvanized

Hey all I was wondering if anyone would know where to get something galvanized. I've made some window well covers and need them galvanized. I live in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada so somewhere close would help. Also are there any other options for galvanizing besides getting them hot dipped? I've heard of a galvanized spray but I don't know how well it would work for such a large area.Thanks in advance
Reply:if  yoyu cant find a place to hot dip it, use the galv spray. it meets military specs for arctic ocean marine structures and if the steel is clean, 2 light coats a few hours apart and it wont rust on you. have stuff 15 years over a weld  in new york state environment,and  no rust.
Reply:Thanks for the reply. I have four window well covers to spray, each one is 40" across by 18" deep. I used 1.5" angle iron for the perimeter and welded in some diamond mesh to fit on the underside of the angle if you get my drift. How much of this spray do you think I'm going to need to purchase?
Reply:If you can't get it galvanized, you may want to think about an Epoxy coating.  This stuff is used in sewage treatment plants, and you know what corrosion problems they have.
Reply:since this stuff is open mesh expanded metal   id stack the units at least 2 deep when painting to let the paint that  passes through the first unit have a chance to coat the one behind it. i guess youd use three cans or four  at the outside, 2 coats both sides.
Reply:Search Google for Platers near Richmond Hill, Ontario and you'll get several hits.  Or click the link below.http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com....num=4&ct=imageGalvanizing is coating steel with zinc or one of several zinc alloys.  It can be hot dipped, or applied by electroplating.  Hot dip is a process normally done by steel mills on sheet product.  Most aftermarket platers use electroplating to coat parts.Call one of the companies that come up in the search shown above, and get their advice on which exact process best suits your needs.  You'll have to balance the cost vs the time it will take for you to 'cold galvanize' with a zinc-rich spray paint.  As good as these paints are, you should get even better performance from a good electroplating job.  As I said, each individual plater can best advise you regarding the processes they run in-house.  You'll get some more choices when it comes to color with zinc electroplating.  These coatings are covered with a chromate rinse that can come in a variety of colors, clear, yellow, green, black, for example.  The chromate boosts the corrosion resistance of the coating, and keeps the zinc from turning white over time.  Generally speaking the darker the chromate rinse, the more protection it provides.  If none of these colors work for you, there are other coatings, phosphate, and manganese oxide, that also provide some corrosion protection and a better surface for paint to adhere to than bare steel.Sounds like your parts are large, you might need to call several shops to find someone who can easily accomodate them.  Price will also vary and you could find a deal by shopping around.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
