I found two different kinds of welding rods in my bucket, need to identify.1-------MG 5002-------N1-CIDon't want to throw them away if I can use themThanks for any help.Doing what I like
Reply:I have read that the MG500 is a PRAX-AIR (spelling?) rod. It is actually a 6013 renamed if memory serves well.Don' t know about the other one.edit: Ooops didn't realize this post is way old.Last edited by Easygo; 10-29-2008 at 08:24 PM.

Reply:Well, as long as it's back;MG 500 is a mild steel electrode which works well on low ocv welders using AC or either polarity DC. It is good for short or spot welds because of its easy restarting ability.The other was probably a nickel-containing rod for cast iron and he probably misread the marking.
