Hey! I am a nooby to the site and looking for some help. My father built a smoker out of a 300 gallon Propane tank, and I'm trying to make some mods. I'm going to turn it into a rotisserie. How do I find the center of the end cap on the tank? This will be the location of the spit which will protrude from both ends. Any help will be much appreciated.
Reply:horizontally level the tank. place a torpedo level vertical against the end you wnt to locate center. where the torpedo is tangent is the center .

Reply:Use a wide (3" or so) paper band to wrap around the diameter so the ends just match and tape it in place. Then take a string and cut it to go over the tapered end and just touch that paper ribbon.Fold the string in half. Use that half string to make marks from several points around the ribbon onto the rounded cap.( just had another thought-use the backside of duct tape for that paper band.)
