weld removal question

I have a 1929 model a and the previous owner welded a roof on the car (initially didn't have a metal roof in the center) and they used strips of sheet metal , the metal is not shaped correct and is very warped from all the welds... my question is what is the best way to remove these welds?thanks,simon

Reply:I do have a wizzer which I used to cut the donor roof off with.... I do have some pics of the old roof and the donor roof.... I will attatch the link.. here is the thing I don't want to hurt the body of the car, from the inside I can see that the welds are just on top you can see the seems where the metal meet up with no welds ... the only problem is that there is wood struts in the way of the seems on the inside.... should I just cut about a 1/8 of an inch or so in front of the welds the previous owner made then grind back to the original body?thanks for the inputsimon

Reply:well that is a point the welds denfinatly are just on top they don't have good penitration at all, so I may be able to just break them I never thought of that thanks for the idea. even if it bends the body a little I am sure I can get that back in shape...simon
