Reply:As said, ...the brand - usually a 'name' brandthe "thickness" - the appropriate "thickness" (did you mean the wire diameter? )the gas - the appropriate gas for the wire type and size and transfer-type and material thicknessYou're not really going to want to use 0.045 diameter wire in spray mode with 98-2 argon-O2 working on 20 gauge 316 stainless out of position. Unless maybe it's pulsed spray. And you're not going to want to use C25 and 0.030 308 wire for thick multipass welds on 316 material.Etc, etc, etc.Use the appropriate wire diameter and type and the appropriate gas and the appropriate transfer mode for the job.
