I have aquired a Airco HF15 hi freq. tig unit. I am in the need of operator instructions for this unit. I will be using it on a 250 amp AC/DC welder. It apears as if I will be able to use the AC side as it has a AC/DC switch on it.

Reply:Since the main use of a freq box is to weld aluminum on AC with continuous high frequency background current to keep the arc going between direction changes of the AC current, then, yes, you should be able to use it on AC. The high frequency is only needed to start the weld with DC, or you can scratch start without it. My guess is it probly also has a gas valve maybe with a post flow timer control on it.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:don't have an operator manual but i did find it in my old airco catalogs and have the miller equal to it, so you might be able to get the op instructions from miller. the hf15 came in four models, difference being the input volts as all are rated for 500amps 60% duty cycle.hf-15-1 - 115v - airco # 2304-0014, miller #900 320hf-15-2 - 230v - airco # 2304-0015, miller #900 323hf-15-4 - 460v - airco # 2304-0048, miller #900 326hf-15-5 - 575v - airco # 2304-0057, miller #900 329you can use it for both ac/dc. it sets up for continuous ac and start only for dc, you just flip the switch, or turn it off to scratch start in dc.johnjohnwelding instructorwww.williamrmoore.orgMooreTech College of Technologywelder/fabricatorJGWilson, Inc.www.jgwilson.com |
