Hi Welders,This may be an oddball idea.I have a Kemppi AC/DC Mastertig 2000 tig machine.I also have an old 100amp Mig thats long overdue for an upgrade.I am on a budget. Here is the oddball idea.Would it be possible to use my tig machine as a power source to a Mig remote wire feeder? The Kemppi is a 240volt AC unit and I can set it for DC stick welding.Would this Idea be achievable? Or just wasting my time?Cheers.
Reply:wasting time..... Tig is constant current, and mig is constant Voltage. Do a search and it is a ton of posts covering this topic..I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:You can use a volt-sensing feeder on constant current to mig with, but I don't think you're going to like it very much. Search the used market for a small 220v mig. I see them every day on craig's list for cheap.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
