The company I work for has bought a used waste reduction grinder. Looking at the manual and records the grinder cutter holder need replaced regulary. they are welded on. the manual calls for a 7010 root pass and a 8018 cover pass. I haven't used either of these rods but have use 6010 and 7018 for decades. Does the 7010 run like 6010 and likewise 8018 run like 7018? The manual also states that UTP 65 may be used for both passes. What is this rod and how does it run? Is it an all position rod and were can it be found.Tough as nails and damn near as smart
Reply:This doesn't tell how it welds, but I googled "utp 65". There's more there if this one doesn't help. http://www.setonresourcecenter.com/m...8/wcd0080d.htm9-11-2001......We Will Never ForgetRetired desk jockey. Hobby weldor with a little training. Reply:7010 and 8018 will run similar to their lower strength cousins. I would suggest that you apply some mild pre-heating(150-250F) before beginning to weld with these higher strength electrodes. I'll encourage you to use a proper rod oven to store the 8018, unless you open a new sealed package for the job.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Reply:Thanks to all who replied. The drum that are welded to is nearly solid and is about 12" d so preheat is in order. The factory manual suggest no more than 400* while a service letter calls for 400* checked with a temp stick. I guess if you want to go by the book you keep looking til you find a book that says what you want.Tough as nails and damn near as smart |
