I would like cut ,form and weld some steel we have into this 91 Saturn frame. My question is frame or frame section available to weld in here ? Or is their a rust free frame in a junk yard what you would do?As you can tell I live in the rust belt and I would not be getting one around here ,it would worse than this. Attached Images
Reply:Personally, if I couldn't come up with a frame clip, I'd do it. Probably be better than what you have now...A lot better. I'm sure there's a lot of warnings about it, but whaddya gonna do-junk the car?You might be able to figure a way to redesign it so it won't collect water and salt."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I also live in the rust belt, (Mn) if you see the frame rotted there, vary good chance it is rotted in MANY unseen spots, It's junk, not worth fixing. I had a Toyota 250K miles,it was 25 years old and ran like a top, but it looked like a banana (concaved) the door wouldn't even open it was so rusted. both sides of the frame were rotted thru. Toyota's are real bad rusters as you probably know. I had to "put her down".......

Reply:I would be taking a real honest look at the value of the car, and the post repair value.I say this because rust repairs are always much worse than they appear. You have to remove ALL the rust if you want it to be worth anything, and by the time you fix it, it might cost too much to be worth it.Good luck......Salt on the roads...
Reply:It is a 91 Saturn and by the looks of the picture, I would say that car is done like dinner.Like Daddy said, Good luck. I can't stand working on rusty metal.IanMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:My Son found a new frame cradle for $300 . online some where ? Since the Car was given to him. I told him since you got the new Lincoln GMAW and can borrow the plasma cutter and we have the Steel to go ahead and practice on it. If doesn't work we'll buy a frame cradle. Thanks for the help , I will post photos the artwork if it we try it. But I think the new frame cradle will save alot of time and money as you say. |
