I passed my 6g 2"  sch 80 pipe cert.  will be taking my vert up 1"plate test tonight. all in smaw.now I want to print some business cards.  what info and designs are on yours.  if you  have a pict, lets see them. I don't know if i should put the lamens terms for smaw, gtaw etc. on them or use the professional terms.

Reply:nice work on passing the 6g where are you testing at?  i would utilize the lamens terms to prevent answering a bunch of questions.  or you could just put mig because for some reason in my area if you have a mig and can make a half *** bead with it you are god.www.burdettenetworks.com

Reply:i am glad to see that you are taking advantage of being unemployed and moving on with your life.  We have a lot of guys laid off in this are from jlg lifts and manitowoc cranes not to mention a bunch of other manufactures.   but unfortunatley a large volume of them are sitting in the legion and vfw all day drinking there unemployment money away just waiting for somebody else to get something going so they can have a job again before the "free"  money runs out.  sorry for the rantwww.burdettenetworks.com
Reply:I make my own biz cards using an old app called Sticker & Label Store that came bundled with a Canon printer I bought back in '96.They print to Avery template #8371.Rex
Reply:Front of the card:  Your Company Name & LogoPhone NumberYour NameAddressGeneral Description ie: Fabrication Services OR Portable WeldingBackside of Card (If you want)CertificationsAreas of SpecialtyDefine Portable or ShopI would use proper nomenclature SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, OAC, CAC-A but that is just me - I market my services from one professional to another and we speak the same language.I use a standard PrintMaster program on my computer and heavy weight paper very similiar to re-perforated business card paper. then I cut it on a large paper cutter.  The reason I quit using Avery (for example) business card paper is I wasted too many when the printer didn't feed squarely.Then, to help them stand apart, I also use heat laminate sleeves on them to keep greasy fingers from smearing my information.Some I have even stuck self adhesive magnets on and placed my cards onto the inside of cabs, or R.O.P.S. of equipment so the operators always had my number.Hey whatever works - Use it.Later,Jason

Reply:black wolfe those are some excellent ideas on the laminating and magnetic ones for on rops etc.  I was thinking of a sticker of some type to put on equipment i repair but this sounds like a better idea and easily removedwww.burdettenetworks.com
Reply:kburd - Thanks.I laminated all of my cards, and always had a supply of the "magnetic" ones in the door of my Kenworth so that I could always leave one with a machine that I had moved.  You'd be suprised how much repeat business that can generate just from "convenience".I do the same now with equipment that I have welded on... doesn't matter to me if it is off road equipment, rental equipment.... whatever.You like the work that was done?
